Massage is the manipulation of the soft tissue of the body for therapeutic effect. Massage has many benefits, including enhanced recovery time, post-ski relaxation and improved performance. It can benefit most people, providing there are no contraindications (or medical reasons not to).

We use many different forms of massage and generally a session is tailored to the areas and requirements of each individual client.

The types of massage we offer are:

Warm up/Pre-ski Massage
To prepare the body for physical exertion.

Deep Tissue Massage
Focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue.

Sports Massage
Incorporates a combination of techniques to help prepare for activity, relax and prevent injury.

Relaxation Massage
A long, luxurious massage using many diferent techniques, including long strokes, gentle kneading and rolling of skin and muscle. Usually a full-body treatment.

Aromatherapy Massage
Uses essential oils distilled from plants to promote relaxation or recovery from exertion.

Acupressure Massage
Unlike acupuncture, acupressure massage does not use needles. Instead, the therapist uses their hands and fingers to stimulate the energy points which can be found all along the meridians (or energy lines) of the body.

Therapeutic Massage
Suitable to aid relaxation or to treat many problems, including muscular pain, injuries, tension and stiffness. Regular massage ensures that unnoticeably small injuries are treated before they reduce performance.

Swedish Massage
Involves the use of gliding strokes, kneading movements, circular pressure of the hand and fingers, and bending and stretching.

Chartered Physiotherapists have long been involved in this area of practice; massage being part of the core curriculum of physiotherapy training.
